Blue.Nocturne: +++|+++|+|+++|+++| (13) HoboKa: +|+++|+++|+++| (10) ------- Abadoss ------- Blue.Nocturne - I really liked what you did with this theme. I especially appreciated the harpsichord, but I'm just kind of weird like that. I think you did a good job of portraying the depth of the situation. The orchestration was very solid. My main concern was that the theme was mostly repeated verbatum. I would suggest developing the theme as the piece goes along - more than just in orchestration. Don't be afraid of altering the theme throughout the course of the piece. It adds variety. HoboKa - I liked what you did with the choir pads. I think you definitely developed a nice feel and flow to your piece. Thematically, it's not very strong, but, for the genre, it's certainly not terrible. The ending - while I understand you were a bit rushed - needed a little something more. I'm not going to suggest more finality because that may not be the aim you were going for, but there's a little missing. I think you did a good job developing the theme idea. You captured the feel very well. First place: Blue.Nocturne Honorary mentions: HoboKa ------- Argitoth ------- Blue.Nocturne - At the end of the day, Blue Nocturne pulls off *his own* interpretation better than *Hoboka's own* interpretation. However, both leave a lot to be desired. First place: Blue.Nocturne ------- Bundeslang ------- Blue.Nocturne - I like the intro set up, it's like the Lion King or something. I like the samples, but some of them seems to be not in balance. The part around 1:50 is a bit too calm. After that part I really get the feeling sometimes you are remixing The Lion King. Nice song, but some samples are out of balance, that's all. Good end. HoboKa - Again, orchestral intro. The voice is a bit irritating, it's out of range or something. I like the noisy beat on the background, This music reminds me to some orchestral Dragonball Z music, funny to see. I like this song too. The middle section is very attractive. The part around 1:50 is a bit boring here too, but the last part is good. The end is a bit surprising and not very good. First place: HoboKa Honorary mentions: Blue.Nocturne ------- Johnny Burt ------- HoboKa - I think Hoboka came closest to depicting the feeling of remorse/the desire for redemption with the choral arrangement. First place: HoboKa ------- Alex Smith ------- Both entries have some very good ideas in them. They both share a dark, troubled atmosphere. This was a difficult choice for me. Ultimately I felt that Blue.Nocturne's arrangement seemed to flow much better. However, I really enjoyed the ethereal mood created by Hoboka at the start of the arrangement, but I felt the aggressive snare somewhat shattered this mood for me. First place: Blue.Nocturne ------- OA ------- Blue.Nocturne - It has a better melodic and harmonic feel to it, but it's pretty cliche; i feel like i've heard the entire song before. HoboKa - It was a little less melodic, but it had a lot more surprises and i felt it represented the theme better. First place: HoboKa ------- Bren ------- HoboKa - Hoboka's has a good sounding atmosphere, but it flows very poorly in my opinion. First place: Blue.Nocturne
