Really well implanted also. I don't know how you made the violin sound so real with a digital sample. You kept it simple and to the point, same with the singer but it works really well, there was no need for incredible solo. Production sounds very professional. Lars Dobbertin-King - It is a bit unfair to judge one by its samples, on the good side there was definitely a sense of urgency in your theme, there were some good motifs and melodies. I dont get those clapping sounds on the start, would change them for sure, it gives your tune kind of cheapness. Your choice of instruments on the "most beautiful sound" is also I think way aggresive, it could be also due to you using midi sounds. And dynamics, the whole piece seemed to be flat on volume, epicness is really a must with dynamics/velocities. I would put this theme on an old game of sea battle scene for sure. First place: Rich Douglas ------- larztheloser (Lars Dobbertin-King) ++ ------- Rich Douglas - Brilliant piece, very well executed. Especially love the opening jig. Reminds me a little of a film piece. Only part I find strange - I don't think the staccato orchestra and santoor mix very well with the very legato choir. Makes the rhythm sound odd in places. Also would have loved a return to the beginning at the end - that jig would provide the perfect "happy ending", as opposed to the dark ending the piece currently has. Anyway, I feel honored to be listed beside such an excellent composition! Wow! First place: Rich Douglas ------- Omri Lahav ------- Rich Douglas - Very, very good production, sounds wonderful! The musical motiffs were convincing and the violin playing was great! Nice, seemless programming as well. The blend of both themes was also very interesting, and I felt that it was a very good choice to make the sirens theme a bit dissonant against the harmony, it may be a beautiful voice - but the dissonance reminds us that it's also dangerous. Very good work! Lars Dobbertin-King - Sadly, this is a fine example of production value damaging the overall product quality. The music in itself is very good, but the MIDI sound is making it harder to enjoy as a whole. I know this is a composition contest, and not a production contest - but today, high-production value form your computer... is part of a composer's job.
